Athlete Development...
Being a top level athlete requires a number of qualities. Some qualities include: the desire to pursue excellence and peak performance, not perfection; the ability to learn from successes and failures; the understanding that strong emotions such as excitement, anger, and disappointment are part of the sport experience, and the ability to regulate and channel these emotions to improve, rather than interfere with, peak performance. Top athletes are also self-motivated to achieve desired results and peak performance; able to persist through difficult tasks and difficult times; and appreciate that many of the benefits of sport come from participation, not from the outcome.

Considering the innate traits which comprise many top level athletes, there are many ways that athletes can be further supported, which will develop their performance. It is well known that ‘making it’ in sport can cost a substantial amount of money, thus, Team Plymouth wants to support Plymouths up-and-coming athletes by assisting them with training, travel and coaching costs, medical and physiotherapy assistance, injury prevention (strength and conditioning), event/competition support.
Team Plymouth appreciates the diversity of sport, and is keen to consider all individual circumstances.
Who Should Apply...
·Are you an athlete who has the desire to reach the top level in your sport?
·Do you have the potential to ‘make it’ in your sport?
·Are you passionate about successful performances?
·Do you have difficulty meeting the monetary demands of your sports?
·Are you totally dedicated to your sport?
How to Apply...
In order for Team Plymouth to decide who is worthy of our funding and support, we need to see a completed application form. This gives us an idea of what kind of athlete you are, what your long and short term goals are and why you require our support. So, if you are interested in receiving some help from Team Plymouth then open the online application form and email it back to the address on the form. As we ask for someone to nominate you, it is often helpful if you get someone else to complete the form with you (coach/parent).
If you are having trouble completing the form, please open the online instructions which will hopefully be able to answer all you questions. If you require a form to fill out by hand or have any additional questions, please contact us and we will get one in the post for you.
